What inspired p.i.e.f.e.s.t.?

Mission

What is p.i.e.f.e.s.t.?

Pacific Islanders Encouraging Fun, Engineering, Science and Technology (P.I.E.F.E.S.T.) is a non-profit organization that was founded in South San Francisco, California by Pacific Islander parents in search of a community within STEM.

The Challenge

The lack of Pacific Islander visibility in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related careers continues to perpetuate the false narrative that STEM is not a significant part of Pacific Islander culture. In fact, we share a rich history of innovation, exploration, and ingenuity rooted in STEM.

The Mission

P.I.E.F.E.S.T. is dedicated to improving Pacific Islander representation and increasing access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related careers.

The vision

We see a future where young people, especially Pacific Islanders and other underserved groups, become confident innovators and community leaders. They will create strong STEM identities via culturally empowering, hands-on learning based on Indigenous Pacific Islander knowledge.

Established on Pi Day- March 14, 2020
